The story describes the life of the young boy during a period of winter detailing on his play with other children, his enthusiasm to start a love life with Mangans sister, and his relationship with his uncle and auntie.Although this story appears to focus on the life of a young boy, this story appears to be symbolic of the life at North Richmond Street, a place that was marked by silence and the only noise came from boys who schooled at Christian Brothers institutions (107). Just like the young boy is growing to adu lthood under challenges, this place is facing the same challenges during its growth process.
